About Partagás Factory

The Real Fábrica de Tabacos Partagás, located on Industria Street in Old Havana, is one of the most iconic cigar factories in the world and one of the most visited tourist sites in Cuba. Founded by Don Jaime Partagás in 1845, the factory produces some of Cuba's boldest, most full-bodied cigars across multiple brands.

History

Don Jaime Partagás, a Catalan immigrant, established the factory at 520 Industria Street in 1845. The location in the heart of Old Havana made it both a factory and a showcase.

Partagás pioneered the tradition of having a "lector" read novels and newspapers aloud to torcedores as they worked — a tradition still maintained today.

The factory has survived revolution, nationalisation, and nearly two centuries of history while maintaining production of some of Cuba's finest cigars.

The building itself is a Havana landmark, with its distinctive facade becoming one of the most photographed buildings in Old Havana.
